Humming Birds

I do have fun watching the humming birds at the flowers by our patio. Not easy snapping pictures of them as they move about so quickly.

Egret

This guy must like ponds full of green algae. I was driving by this “pond” and when I saw the bird standing there so I quickly stopped a snapped a few shots.

A few August Michigan nature shots

Many ponds in Southeast Michigan have Egrets. Often they stand for the longest time on a log or close to shore.

The hummingbirds are not the only ones that like our purple salvia.

A Michigan Summer Sunset

We finished up a mountain bike ride near sunset at a trail in the countryside and took this photo as we were packing up to leave. I live in suburbia so it’s difficult to get good sunset shots so when in the outlying areas I always hope to be at a spot when there is a nice sunset.

Hummingbird

This little guy was not easy to get a picture of. I had to sit on the patio with my 70-210mm zoom lens and wait for him and then take a bunch of rapid fire shots. He sits on the telephone wire for long periods of time and then comes in for a fix on the purple salvia. The local garden store told me hummingbirds love purple salvia and he was right.

Northwest Michigan

Some random shots of our visit to Northwest Michigan this summer. A really beautiful place to visit with lots of vineyards,cherrie farms,and lots of great beaches for swimming in Lake Michigan.

Fishtown

I recently took this shot at what is called Fishtown in Leland Michigan. Looks like a place Popeye would live.
A great place to visit.

Black Swallowtail Butterfly

I snapped a shot of this Black Swallowtail butterfly having fun in our garden among the tomoatoes and parsley.
